<p>Job Title: Night Care Assistant<br /> Location: Stennards Leisure Retirement Home, Moseley, Birmingham B315LN<br /> Hours: Night Shift – 9:00 pm to 7:00 am (10-hour shifts)</p> <p>3 days per week total 30 hours</p> <p>Reports To: Senior Care Assistant / Registered Manager</p> <p>Job Purpose</p> <p>As a Night Care Assistant at Stennards Leisure Retirement Home, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to our residents throughout the night. You will help ensure residents are safe, comfortable, and treated with dignity and respect, while maintaining a calm, secure, and welcoming environment.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Deliver compassionate, person-centred care in accordance with each resident’s individual care plan.</p> <p>Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, continence care, and changing bedding where required.</p> <p>Support residents with safe moving and handling using appropriate equipment and techniques.<br /> Carry out regular night-time welfare checks and respond promptly to residents’ needs, including emergency call bells.</p> <p>Assist residents who require support with mobility, repositioning, or comfort during the night.</p> <p>Administer or assist with medication if trained and authorised to do so, following company policies and procedures.</p> <p>Accurately complete care records, incident reports, and handover notes.<br /> Maintain residents’ privacy, dignity, independence, and choice at all times.<br /> Observe and report any changes in residents’ physical or mental wellbeing to the Senior Care Assistant or Manager.</p> <p>Ensure all areas remain clean, tidy, and safe, following infection prevention and control procedures.</p> <p>Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide continuity of care and ensure effective communication during shift handovers.</p> <p>Promote safeguarding principles and report any concerns in line with company policy.<br /> Follow all health and safety procedures, fire safety regulations, and emergency protocols.<br /> Person Specification<br /> Essential<br /> Caring, compassionate, and patient nature.<br /> Good communication and interpersonal skills.<br /> Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently during night shifts.<br /> Reliable, trustworthy, and professional.<br /> Good written and spoken English.<br /> Willingness to undertake mandatory training.<br /> Desirable<br /> Previous experience working in a residential or care home setting.<br /> NVQ/QCF Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards one).<br /> Knowledge of person-centred care, dementia care, and safeguarding.<br /> Medication administration training.<br /> Moving and handling training.</p> <p>Working Hours<br /> Night shift: 9:00 pm – 7:00 am<br /> Includes weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis.<br /> Additional shifts may be available to cover annual leave and sickness.</p> <p><strong>What We Offer</strong><br /> Competitive rates of pay.<br /> Paid training and ongoing professional development.<br /> Opportunities for career progression.<br /> Pension scheme.<br /> Paid annual leave.<br /> Supportive management team.<br /> Uniform provided.</p> <p>A friendly and welcoming working environment where your contribution is valued.<br /> Our Values</p> <p>At Stennards Leisure Retirement Home, we are committed to providing compassionate, respectful, and person-centred care.
