Job Description

Focus: Telemedicine + Primary Healthcare Triage

This role involves providing remote clinical consultations (telehealth), assessing and triaging patient symptoms, and guiding them to appropriate care.

Core Responsibilities

1. Telephonic & Digital Patient Care
  • Handle incoming calls, messages, and emails professionally
  • Perform clinical triage (emergency, urgent, non-urgent, in person or virtual referral)
  • Assess physical and psychosocial needs (including mental health)
2. Clinical Decision-Making
  • Use SANC regulations, Department of Health guidelines, and SOPs
  • Provide:
    • Treatment guidance
    • Medication education
    • Wellness counselling
3. Care Coordination
  • Book virtual consultations with doctors
  • Support patients who do not require doctor intervention
  • Refer to appropriate services (ER, mental health, social & psychological services)
4. Documentation & Quality
  • Maintain accurate electronic records
  • Contribute to reporting and service metrics
  • Meet SLA (Service Level Agreement) targets
5. Professional Practice
  • Maintain active SANC registration
  • Participate in continuous professional development
  • Engage in quality improvement and team activities
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Registered Professional Nurse (SANC)

Primary Health Care qualification

Certificate in Dispensing

2–3 years clinical experience (PHC, ER, ICU, or similar preferred)

Experience with telephonic patient interaction

Computer literacy + typing skills

Key Competencies

  • Strong clinical triage skills
  • Excellent communication (telephonic + written)
  • Ability to work independently under pressure
  • High level of organisation and documentation accuracy
