Anerley Station Road is based in Bromley and Horn Lane is spread across two neighbouring sites in Ealing. Both services support a broad range of service users including Looked After Children, Care Leavers, Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children, and other young people with support needs.

The services work closely with statutory services to provide wrap-around support for each customer. Support is provided by a large and skilled workforce with specialist roles.

We are recruiting an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist to lead in facilitating therapeutic groups and individual counselling/therapy for customers across the two locations, spending 4 hours a week at each service.

The post holder will support the staff team in developing their psychological understanding and raising awareness of the emotional impact of working with young people, while leading in creating and maintaining a therapeutically informed programme for the team to deliver a Psychological Informed Environment.

The Therapist will work with young people to improve engagement with support services and provide in-depth sessions aimed at giving young people a clearer insight into their emotional wellbeing.

The post holder should have a creative approach to engaging young people, including group and individual therapy, and tailor interactions to each young person, possibly using methods like self-expression, mindfulness, art, or creative writing.

Key documentation and information will be maintained to the required standards, adhering to all relevant legislation governing professional relationships.

The post holder will work flexibly across the service and utilize technology to ensure effective use of time across service provision.

What you\'ll do:

  • Implement and support a Psychological Informed Environment within the service.
  • Support holistic assessments, support plans, and risk assessments in collaboration with service-users, their families, and other agencies.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive information sharing, especially regarding risks.
  • Lead on staff debriefs after serious incidents, develop workshops for stress and wellbeing management, and advise on supportive interventions.
  • Lead team reflective practice sessions and other creative activities to promote insight and best practice.
  • Review and adapt recovery-focused support plans to meet changing needs and promote positive risk-taking.
  • Provide recovery-oriented support to help service-users achieve personal goals, working one-to-one where appropriate.
  • Support and develop other frontline staff, building capacity and skills within the team.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with external mental health professionals and key community agencies.
  • Demonstrate commitment to service-user empowerment, co-production, and promoting rights.
  • Use person-centred tools to support recovery and development.
