About the Role Our client, a rapidly expanding telecommunications provider, is seeking a highly skilled Telecommunications Infrastructure Technician to manage and maintain their network infrastructure in and around Centurion, Gauteng . This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of the company's communication networks, including fiber optics, wireless systems, and data centers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of complex telecommunication systems. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to manage your schedule effectively while contributing to a vital sector. Key Responsibilities Installing, configuring, and commissioning telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, base stations, and fiber optic cabling. Performing routine maintenance and diagnostic tests on network infrastructure to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact service. Troubleshooting and repairing faults in fiber optic networks, microwave links, and other transmission systems. Monitoring network performance and ensuring optimal utilization of bandwidth and resources. Collaborating with engineering teams to implement network upgrades, expansions, and new technology rollouts. Documenting network configurations, maintenance activities, and incident reports accurately. Responding to network outages and emergency situations, providing rapid and effective resolution. Ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies throughout all operations in Centurion, Gauteng . Providing technical support and guidance to junior team members and field technicians as needed. Requirements A minimum of 6 years of experience in telecommunications network infrastructure installation and maintenance. Strong understanding of IP networking, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and switching technologies. Hands-on experience with fiber optic splicing, testing (OTDR), and termination. Familiarity with wireless communication technologies (e.g., LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi). Proficiency in using network diagnostic tools and software. Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setup. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear reporting and collaboration.
