KFC (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Tax and Compliance Accountant/Analyst to join our BMU Finance and Accounting team. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with tax and financial regulations and contributing to the company's financial health and stability.

The Tax and Compliance Accountant/Analyst will play a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity and compliance of KFC (Pty) Ltd. This position requires a strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, as well as excellent analytical and reporting skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the finance team and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with country-specific legislation and YUM! Corporate Tax policies.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Annual Audited Financial Statements (AFS) in compliance with country specific legislation for Equity Chicken Zambia, KFC South Africa Holdings BV Holdings BV and PH South Africa Holdings BV.
  • Preparation of the annual key calculations required for the completion of the Annual Financial Statements.
  • Compliance with any local financial reporting requirements.
  • Plans and leads all the local Statutory audits for the above-mentioned entities.
  • Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all internal and external tax reporting in compliance with country specific legislation as well as YUM! Corporate Tax policies.
  • Performs quarterly tax forecasts, True-Ups and updates UTP disclosures for Equity Chicken Zambia limited
  • Compliance with local tax legislation – VAT, Income tax filings and any other applicable returns to revenue authorities as well as completion of month end recons.
  • Compilation of information and close out of all tax related audits.
  • Prepares information required for tax and VAT cash flow forecasting.
  • Ensure Transfer pricing compliance.
  • Responsible for ensuring all WHT certificates are timeously received from the ZRA and submitted to KFC.
  • Ensuring all internal audit and external audit control deficiencies are closed with the broader finance team within 3 months of conclusion of audits.
  • Subject matter expert in all tax and VAT related matters.
  • Working as part of a dynamic shared service team, ensure Control achieves its periodic, quarterly and annual Tax Pure Gold Reporting targets while also ensuring compliance with Yum! policies for both brands.
  • Creating efficiencies and process improvements in the Tax and Compliance space making us leaders in Compliance globally.
  • Ad Hoc control/audit related projects to ensure continued professional development and support the finance team and business as a whole.
  • Support the tax and compliance manager with other duties and responsibilities that may delegated from time to time

-Internal Tax Reporting – quarterly reporting, forecasting, annual US Tax pack

-VAT and reverse VAT returns - calculation, reconciliation, submission and attending to tax audits

-Local Income tax & statutory financial reporting (Audited financial statements, tax packs and tax returns)

-Support for shared service team – payment review, audit, ad-hoc tax and internal audit projects (when required)

-Managing the local statutory audit for Equity Chicken Zambia

-Oversee and review on site Equity audits and reports (Inventory, cash etc.)

Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA-Zambia) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar tax and compliance role, preferably in the food industry or a large corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations, particularly in the Zambian and South African contexts.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel and ERP systems like Oracle/SAP.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts.
  • A team player with a collaborative mindset, willing to support and work closely with colleagues.
  • Willingness to stay updated on changing tax laws and regulations, and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Strong IT skills and competency in Computer assisted Audit Techniques (CAAT’S)
  • Knowledge of IIA Standards
