Tax Accountant
Introduction
A leading multinational organisation is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Accountant to join its Finance team. This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced corporate environment and is passionate about financial reporting, taxation, compliance, and continuous process improvement.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance, tax management, and supporting the Finance Department across a broad range of accounting functions.
Duties & Responsibilities
Accounting & Finance
- Prepare Annual Financial Statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Manage and monitor internal control assessments.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls.
- Assist with cash flow management, reporting, and process improvements.
Accounts Payable
- Review and approve accounts payable transactions and supporting documentation.
- Monitor supplier balances and ensure compliance with company payment policies.
- Assist in reducing long outstanding vendor balances.
External Audit
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Liaise with external auditors and resolve audit queries.
- Coordinate the submission of audit information.
Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Manage corporate tax compliance and tax risk.
- Prepare and submit:
- Corporate Income Tax
- Provisional Tax
- Deferred Tax calculations
- VAT and other statutory submissions
- Liaise with SARS, tax consultants, and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare expatriate tax documentation and coordinate with external consultants.
- Assist with Transfer Pricing documentation.
- Complete Country-by-Country (CbC) Reporting.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and tax regulations.
Fixed Assets & Inventory
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
- Process additions, disposals, and transfers.
- Coordinate fixed asset and inventory counts.
- Prepare fixed asset reports and reconciliations.
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations.
Month-End & Reporting
- Assist with the month-end close process.
- Prepare journals and reconciliations.
- Perform variance analysis.
- Maintain the General Ledger.
- Prepare reports for local and international head office.
- Support finance projects and process improvements.
- Assist with cash flow reporting and financial analysis.
Team Support
- Provide guidance and support to the Accounts Payable team.
- Assist with meeting departmental deadlines and objectives.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and standard operating procedures.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent.
- Minimum 6–8 years' experience as a Financial Accountant or Tax Accountant.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Corporate Income Tax
- VAT
- Deferred Tax
- Provisional Tax
- SARS compliance
- Financial Reporting
- Annual Financial Statements
- Experience with external audits and statutory reporting.
- Strong understanding of internal controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience in a multinational corporate environment will be advantageous.
