(Executive) reporting to the Vice President Sales Southern Africa, The Sustainability Manager leads the development and implementation of the Sales Area’s sustainability and ESG strategy, ensuring alignment with Sandvik’s global Sustainability Shift and 2030 goals.<br><br><strong>Job Purpose<br><br></strong>The role drives compliance with regional ESG regulations, supports customer sustainability requirements, manages governance and reporting, and strengthens stakeholder engagement across internal and external partners.<br><br><strong>KEY RESONSIBILITIES:<br><br></strong><em>STRATEGIC PLANNING<br><br></em><ul><li>Develop and maintain the Sales Area Sustainability, ESG, Localization, and BBBEE Strategies.</li><li>Align regional strategies to Sandvik’s global 2030 sustainability roadmap.</li><li>Develop stakeholder management and engagement frameworks.</li><li>Support customer-facing sustainability and community engagement initiatives.<br><br></li></ul><em>COMPLIANCE, POLICIES AND PROCEDURES<br><br></em><ul><li>Ensure compliance with ESG-related legislation (Mining Charter III, BBBEE, environmental regulations).</li><li>Communicate regulatory changes and ensure organizational readiness.</li><li>Lead internal ESG audits and governance compliance processes.<br><br></li></ul><em>SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (SED)<br><br></em><ul><li>Drive CSR and community development initiatives aligned to Mining Charter requirements.</li><li>Identify funding opportunities and ensure stakeholder participation.</li><li>Monitor project progress and prepare SED financial reports.</li><li>Engage customers on Mining Charter–related community projects.<br><br></li></ul><em>ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT (ED)<br><br></em><ul><li>Manage ED/ESD initiatives from identification through execution.</li><li>Maintain and report on the Sales Area Transformation Scorecard.</li><li>Ensure accurate documentation, spend analysis, and compliance with BBBEE Codes.</li><li>Facilitate workshops to address scorecard gaps.<br><br></li></ul><em>STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT<br><br></em><ul><li>Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, customers, authorities, and industry bodies.</li><li>Represent Sandvik at industry forums and events.</li><li>Develop engagement tools, dashboards, and reporting templates.<br><br></li></ul><em>STAKEHOLDER RELATIONSHIP IMPLEMENTATION<br><br></em><ul><li>Develop and maintain stakeholder management policies, processes, and procedures aligned to global standards.</li><li>Monitor compliance with stakeholder management requirements and adjust where necessary.</li><li>Create measurement tools (e.g., dashboards and surveys) to assess stakeholder engagement and satisfaction.</li><li>Prepare and submit reports to key internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>Build stakeholder management capability across the organisation.</li><li>Stay updated on legislative changes and communicate impacts promptly to ensure organisational readiness.<br><br></li></ul><em>BUDGET MANAGEMENT<br><br></em><ul><li>Prepare annual sustainability and transformation budgets.</li><li>Monitor expenditure and deliver quarterly financial reviews.</li><li>Identify cost-saving initiatives.<br><br></li></ul><em>PEOPLE MANAGEMENT<br><br></em><ul><li>Recruit, coach, and develop team members.</li><li>Conduct performance reviews and build succession pipelines.</li><li>Support a diverse and inclusive team culture.<br><br></li></ul><em>SAFETY, HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE<br><br></em><ul><li>Comply with safety regulations, internal standards and procedures, and applicable legislation.</li><li>Drive ESG-related operational initiatives (energy efficiency, decarbonization, responsible sourcing).</li><li>Support environmental compliance in collaboration with EHS teams.</li><li>Ensure suppliers meet legal and safety requirements.<br><br></li></ul><strong>EDUCATION:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Postgraduate degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business, or related field.</li><li>Master’s degree preferred.<br><br></li></ul><strong>EXPERIENCE:<br><br></strong><ul><li>8+ years in sustainability, environmental management, ESG, or similar strategic roles.</li><li>3+ years’ experience managing people.</li><li>Experience developing and implementing sustainability strategies in a corporate environment.</li><li>Experience in Inclusive Procurement Levers (IP Levers).</li><li>Strong stakeholder and communication capability.</li><li>Proven ability to interpret global best practices and legislative frameworks at a strategic level.</li><li>Sound understanding of sustainability across environmental, social, economic, and governance domains across Southern Africa.<br><br></li></ul><strong>LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES <br><br></strong><ul><li>Valid driver’s license</li><li>Technical Certifications (often required or strongly preferred) LEED</li><li>ISO 14001</li><li>Certified Sustainability Professional (CSP)</li><li>WELL, EPA, GRI, TRUE,
