JOB GRADING: D – LowerDEPARTMENT: Engineering
SITE: South Deep Gold Mine The Superintendent – Engineering Conveyor Belts is accountable for planning, organising and optimising all conveyor belt systems, bulk material handling infrastructure and associated maintenance activities. The incumbent assumes a 2.9.2 MHSA appointment over the conveyor belt section and is responsible for ensuring safe operational performance, equipment reliability, asset integrity and maintenance delivery aligned to company standards, procedures and planned maintenance regimes.Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 or equivalent with a relevant Trade CertificateNational Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering will be advantageous
Minimum of 8 years' engineering maintenance experience in mining or heavy industry, with at least 3 years at supervisory level
Proven track record in supervising conveyor belt systems, bulk material handling equipment and associated infrastructure
Advanced proficiency in associated legal/regulatory standards
Proven experience in maintenance planning, shutdown management and reliability improvement initiatives
Experience in SAP PM or similar Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a heat tolerance Screening Test

Advanced knowledge of conveyor belt systems, drives, pulleys, motors, gearboxes, chutes, idlers and associated infrastructure
Advanced knowledge of maintenance and reliability engineering principles, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and condition monitoring practices
Advanced understanding of planned maintenance systems, shutdown execution and asset lifecycle management
Experienced in contractor management, budget control and cost management for maintenance operations
Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively participate in and lead operational safety, health, environmental and risk management campaigns ensuring demonstration of Purposeful Visible Felt LeadershipRemain abreast of relevant statutory and regulatory changes and ensure compliance with safety standards, maintenance procedures and operational requirements
Conduct regular safety and risk management inspections and audits to proactively eliminate and mitigate operational risks
Participate in and lead safety incident and accident investigations ensuring the implementation and monitoring of remedial actions.
Develop and maintain optimal team sourcing, capability development and performance management team oversight practices to ensure safe, consistent and optimal team delivery

Collaborate with Engineering, Planning and Operations teams to develop short-, medium- and long-term maintenance strategies and projects to optimise conveyor system reliability and performance
Participate in and contribute towards the development, planning and execution of maintenance and production delivery plans aligned to operational requirements
Implement and monitor controls within the section to minimise equipment failures, maintenance risks and operational downtime
Participate in, refine and execute defined maintenance strategies and reliability interventions to optimise conveyor availability and performance aligned to key maintenance drivers and KPIs
Monitor equipment condition, analyse relia
