Senior Accountant (Balance Sheet & Controls Specialist)<br><br><strong>Employment Type:</strong> Full-Time Independent Contractor<br><br><strong>Location:</strong> Remote — Latin America, South Africa, or the Philippines<br><br><strong>Hours:</strong> U.S. Business Hours Overlap Required<br><br><strong>Reports To:</strong> Director of Finance<br><br><strong>About The Role<br><br></strong>Our client is seeking an experienced <strong>Senior Accountant</strong> to support financial accuracy, balance sheet integrity, audit readiness, and internal controls.<br><br>This role will focus heavily on <strong>balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger accounting, manual journal entries, fixed assets, month-end close, and accounting SOPs and controls</strong>.<br><br>Key Responsibilities<br><br><ul><li>Conduct a detailed review and cleanup of Balance Sheet accounts. </li><li>Build and maintain monthly reconciliation schedules for cash, prepaids, accruals, deferred revenue, intercompany, debt, and other accounts. </li><li>Manage fixed asset schedules, depreciation, amortization, and related journal entries. </li><li>Prepare and post accurate manual journal entries during month-end close. </li><li>Review GL accounts for proper coding, classification, and variances. </li><li>Develop and document accounting SOPs and processes. </li><li>Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls. </li><li>Ensure financial records remain accurate, organized, and audit-ready. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. </li><li>5+ years of hands-on GL accounting experience, ideally at Senior Accountant level. </li><li>Strong experience with Balance Sheet reconciliations and account cleanup. </li><li>Experience with fixed assets and complex manual journal entries. </li><li>Experience developing accounting SOPs and internal controls. </li><li>CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification preferred. </li><li>Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS. </li><li>Experience with accounting platforms such as NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or SAP. </li><li>Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and financial modeling. </li><li>Excellent English communication and exceptional attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to work full-time with overlap during U.S. business hours.</li></ul>
