Job Requisition ID 12874 Closing Date OME EOP: Secunda Operations Location Purpose of Job The Process Technician (Production) provides technical support to the production area manager and production foremen teams. The process technician works to maintain a healthy balance between fault finding or problem identification, AND driving improvements and implementing solutions. He/She provides inputs and enables the maintenance technicians, area managers, and engineers by applying theoretical skills and making suggestions. Independently implement solutions to optimise production-related systems like PI reports, OWAP management, MOC completion, and progress reporting. The role requires engagement with peers in the broader MPI business unit as well as other business units in Secunda Operations and Tank Farm. The ideal candidate displays energy and a proactive attitude towards driving improvement actions and engagement with others. They perform their duties without needing supervision to deliver and proactively engage with others to improve ideas and solutions. Key Accountabilities Provide technical input or advice to multidisciplinary teams in production, maintenance, and capital projects (where applicable). Track, understand, and resolve OWAP deviations relating to the area of accountability and involve others in the solution development as needed. Support the achievement of relevant Work Management and Reliability goals for the area by giving technical design, operating, and improvement inputs into the Work Management process. Take the lead to drive completion of relevant MOC's in the production area and support/enable completion of MOC's owned by maintenance teams in the production area. Take accountability to drive and progress deviation management and tracking on K2 deviation management system Build and maintain effective working relationships / partnerships with team and peers to ensure high performance results. Perform data capturing, processing, and reporting on the reliability and availability of key assets (steam stations, steam traps, raw gas traps, PSV's, valves, etc.) and identify areas of concerns/improvement. Review effectiveness and optimality of inspection/maintenance strategies and facilitate the changing of strategies where needed to improve the team’s productivity or the asset’s reliability. Review operating and commissioning procedures to identify gaps or areas where greater clarity is needed. Resolve work obstacles and issues positively and quickly. Demonstrate effective listening and communication skills when dealing with colleagues. Show curiosity to understand challenges faced by the foremen and artisans and identify optimization opportunities. Agree and review personal performance goals and the achievement thereof. Build relationships within MPI Yard production and Mechanical teams in order to understand their needs and opportunities. Understand and live the company values, vision and goals. Develop suitable technical proposals based on practical and theoretical knowledge. Actively participate in setting and achieving team targets, due dates, and quality standards Manage own work. Plan, organize, control and report own work Review compliance against Policies, practices, standards, procedures and methods: application and compliance. Improve own skills and knowledge by take ownership of personal improvement and skills development. Apply the learning experience at the workplace. Formal Education Relevant Engineering National Diploma or BTech/Advanced Diploma The position will be filled in line with the relevant approved Technician Career Development Framework.
