Purpose of the Position:

The Strategic Buyer is accountable for developing and executing sourcing and category strategies that deliver sustainable value, commercial optimisation, delivering savings, supplier innovation, risk mitigation and business continuity across assigned spend categories.
  • The role leads strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, market analysis, contract award recommendations and supplier performance management while partnering closely with business stakeholders to support MultiChoice's strategic objectives.
  • The role may be assigned one or more of the following spend clusters:
  • Tech & Digital cluster: Information Technology (IT) & Digital, Broadcast Technology & Control Room, Customer Reception Equipment, Content (Production Support) & Studio
  • Services cluster: Professional Human Resources (HR), Facilities, Logistics and Mobility
  • Marketing & Communication cluster: Marketing & Communication
  • Content (Production support) and Studios
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing projects, including Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quotation (RFQ) and Requests for Proposal (RFP)
Key Performance Objectives

Tasks

Category Analytics & Strategy Execution
  • Build demand/spend baselines, market scans, supplier segmentation, and should cost models.
  • Translate category strategy into sourcing waves with clear business cases.
  • Maintain savings/risk/innovation pipeline with quarterly updates.
RFx & Negotiation
  • Draft RFIs/RFPs/RFQs; define evaluation criteria (Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)/Life Cycle Costing (LCC), technical/quality weighting).
  • Run structured negotiations (commercials, SLAs, service credits, exit terms).
  • Recommend award decisions with transparent evaluation and governance evidence.
Contracting & Supplier Enablement
  • Coordinate contracts and SOWs with Legal, securing approvals within SLA.
  • Prepare award packages for Tactical Buying (catalogue content, rate cards, call off instructions).
  • Ensure supplier onboarding prerequisites (insurance, certifications) are met.
Supplier Performance & Risk
  • Prepare QBR packs, track KPIs and action logs.
  • Escalate risks or under performance to ensure appropriate resolution.
  • Coordinate corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
  • Align timing and scope of sourcing with business owners and effectively manage impacts.
  • Track and report benefits with Finance and maintain evidence for audit purposes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain/Procurement/Business or relevant discipline.
  • CIPS advantageous.
  • Postgraduate degree advantageous
Experience
  • 5-8 years’ strategic sourcing experience in the assigned cluster’s categories.
  • Experience with e-sourcing, CLM, and spend analytics.
  • Proven track record in supplier relationship management (SRM) and performance monitoring.
  • Experience in contract negotiation and governance, including managing complex agreements and compliance requirements.
  • Exposure to risk management practices in procurement and supplier networks.
  • Familiarity with market analysis and benchmarking to support category strategies.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders (Finance, Legal, IT, HR) to deliver sourcing outcomes.
  • Knowledge of digital procurement tools and emerging technologies for process optimisation.
