Our client, a well-established investment house, is seeking a technically strong Senior Fund Accountant to join its finance team. This opportunity is ideal for an ambitious individual who has completed SAICA articles, has built a solid foundation in conventional accounting, and has since gained exposure to fund accounting and investment administration.

Duties:
 
  • Perform the full accounting function across investment funds and related entities.
  • Maintain the general ledger through to trial balance, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting processes.
  • Prepare management accounts, statutory financial statements, and investor reports.
  • Prepare and review Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations and fund reconciliations.
  • Perform balance sheet, cash, investment, and portfolio reconciliations.
  • Support external audits and prepare audit working papers.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with IFRS and relevant legislation.
  • Liaise with fund managers, auditors, custodians, brokers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, controls, and operational efficiencies
 
Job Experience & Skills Required:
 
Qualifications:
 
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • BCom Accounting and BCom Honours / CTA.
  • CA(SA)
 
Experience:
 
  • Completion of SAICA articles is essential.
  • Approximately 5 years' experience across external audit, financial accounting, fund accounting, or investment administration.
  • A strong grounding in conventional accounting together with exposure to fund accounting or investment structures.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and financial reporting.
  • Experience preparing management accounts, annual financial statements, reconciliations, and month-end reporting.
  • Exposure to NAV calculations, investor reporting, and fund accounting will be highly advantageous.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with fund accounting platforms or investment systems will be advantageous.
