Teachers are the lifeblood of the success of schools.”- Sir Ken Robinson, 2013General <ul><li>Assist in developing, managing and delivering the school counselling programme in line with the International School Counsellor Association Model </li><li>Advocate for students’ personal and educational needs and ensure these needs are addressed Provide individual or small group confidential counselling for students </li><li>Provide support to students facing emergency situations </li><li>Refer students, staff, and families whose needs cannot be addressed in the school setting to outside specialists, as per the school's recommendation </li><li>Advocate for external mental health services on behalf of students </li><li>Collaborate with the boarding house team to provide counselling support as needed </li><li>Collaborate within the counselling team to deliver the peer support programme </li><li>Assist divisional principals with identifying and resolving student issues, needs and problems </li><li>Contribute to student of concern meetings as appropriate </li><li>Uphold the school’s child safeguarding protocols and procedures.</li></ul>Skills <ul><li>Ability to create a safe and inclusive environment for students, families and staff </li><li>Understanding barriers to student learning and counselling strategies to help students overcome these barriers </li><li>Experience with individual and group counselling </li><li>An understanding of the developmental, emotional, social and educational issues of young people </li><li>An awareness of the range of needs of people from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds </li><li>Knowledge of and experience in implementing positive transitions-care management programs in schools </li><li>An entrepreneurial spirit, with a drive to develop new programs and new solutions to meet community needs </li><li>Experience in teaching and implementing conflict resolution </li><li>Strong critical thinking, problem-solving ability and flexibility </li><li>Proficient in the Google Suite of applications </li><li>Experience with confidential safeguarding online platforms such as CPOMS </li><li>Must have strong written and verbal English communication skills </li><li>Commitment to and interest in a progressive educational environment</li></ul>Required Qualifications <ul><li>M.Ed.or higher in School Counselling (consideration for other school counselling degrees with suitable experience in school counselling responsibilities) </li><li>Further safeguarding training or qualifications for working with young people </li><li>Preferred 3-5 years of experience as a School Counsellor, particularly in an international setting </li></ul>
