Role Overview

The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations for growing businesses. This role focuses on full-cycle bookkeeping, including transaction recording, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting.

You will support clean, reliable financial systems that enable leadership to make informed decisions and remain compliant. This role is ideal for detail-oriented professionals who value accuracy, consistency, and ownership over financial data.

Your work ensures financial clarity, compliance, and operational stability. By maintaining accurate books and timely reports, you help businesses understand performance, manage cash flow, and avoid costly errors. Your precision directly supports confident decision-making and long-term growth.

Core Responsibilities

General Bookkeeping & Accounting — 30%

  • Record and categorize daily financial transactions
  • Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain documentation
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality of financial records

Bank & Account Reconciliations — 20%

  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and merchant accounts
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Maintain reconciliation schedules and supporting files

Accounts Payable — 15%

  • Process vendor bills and manage payment schedules
  • Maintain vendor records and AP aging
  • Ensure invoices are accurate and properly approved

Accounts Receivable — 15%

  • Issue customer invoices and track collections
  • Apply payments accurately
  • Monitor AR aging and follow up on overdue balances

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close — 10%

  • Support month-end close activities
  • Prepare basic financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet)
  • Generate reports for internal review

Payroll & Tax Support — 10% (Client-Dependent)

  • Support payroll processing and recordkeeping
  • Organize documentation for tax preparation and compliance
  • Assist external accountants or CPAs as needed

Must-Haves (Required)

  • 1–2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Full-cycle bookkeeping exposure (AP, AR, reconciliations, reporting)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping
  • Experience working with US-based businesses or financial standards
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal English communication
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Nice-to-Haves (Preferred)

  • Full-charge bookkeeping experience
  • Multi-entity or multi-currency exposure
  • Payroll or sales tax experience
  • Accounting or bookkeeping certifications
  • Experience supporting audits or tax filings
