QA Engineer - REMOTE - IMMEDIATE START - R700 Per Hour

Introduction

Are you passionate about delivering high-quality software and ensuring exceptional user experiences? We're looking for a detail-oriented QA Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing and executing test plans, identifying defects, collaborating with developers to resolve issues, and driving quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

If you have strong analytical skills, experience with manual and automated testing, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we'd love to hear from you.

Duties & Responsibilities

What You Bring
  • 7+ years in a QA / SDET / test-engineering role on production software
  • Strong grasp of TDD - you’ve worked on teams that practise it properly
  • Language-agnostic: comfortable writing test code in whatever the service is written in
  • Experience testing microservices and event-driven systems - contract tests, async assertions, test data strategy
  • API testing fluency (REST, and ideally gRPC, GraphQL, or messaging)
  • CI/CD pipeline integration of test suites
  • A bias for automation, with the judgement to know what not to automate
  • Clear written communication - bug reports that make engineers say “thanks” instead of sighing
Nice-to-have:
  • Experience evaluating LLM/AI features - eval frameworks, prompt regression, RAG quality metrics
  • Performance and load testing (k6, Gatling, Locust, JMeter)
  • Security testing fundamentals (OWASP top 10, dependency scanning)
  • Chaos / resilience testing - circuit breakers, retries, fault injection
  • Frontend test automation (Playwright, Cypress)
  • Observability tooling - OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Datadog, Honeycomb
  • Accessibility testing
  • Contract testing (Pact or equivalent)
Reference Number for this position is GZ61479 which is a Contract REMOTE position offering a contract rate of R700 per hour, negotiable based on experience and ability.
