Project Management Office Director

Description The Director: Project Management Office (PMO) establishes and leads the enterprise PMO, ensuring the successful execution of KFC Africa's strategic priorities. The role provides governance, portfolio oversight and programme leadership across the organization, translating strategy into execution while driving operational excellence, transformation, market expansion, strategic partnerships and acquisition integration.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Portfolio Management 

  • Lead the enterprise portfolio of strategic initiatives.
  • Translate business strategy into executable programmes. 
  • Prioritize investments with Executive Leadership. 
  • Monitor portfolio health, risks, dependencies and benefits realization. 

PMO Governance & Delivery Excellence 

  • Develop enterprise PMO standards, governance and methodologies. 
  • Implement stage-gate governance and executive reporting. 
  • Drive project assurance and continuous improvement. 
Strategic Programme Delivery 
  • Lead programmes including market expansion, AI & digital transformation, organisational design, customer and employee experience, supply chain optimisation, operational excellence and capability development. 

Strategic Partnerships 

  • Coordinate implementation of strategic partnerships. 
  • Manage governance, milestones, risks and value delivery. 
  • Partner with franchisees, suppliers, consultants and technology partners
Mergers, Acquisitions & Integration 
  • Coordinate due diligence workstreams. 
  • Develop integration roadmaps and Day 1 readiness plans. 
  • Track integration milestones, synergy delivery and business continuity. 
Executive Reporting 
  • Provide Executive Committee dashboards covering portfolio performance, budgets, risks, capacity and benefits realisation. Provide Executive Committee dashboards covering portfolio performance, budgets, risks, capacity and benefits realisation.

Resource, Financial & Risk Management
  • Optimise resource allocation, monitor budgets, oversee project risks and support investment business cases.

Change Leadership 

  • Partner with leaders to drive stakeholder engagement, communication, adoption and change readiness. 
Continuous Improvement 
  • Embed agile ways of working, digital PM tools, automation and AI-enabled project delivery. 

Leadership Responsibilities 

  •  Lead and develop a high-performing PMO team. 
  • Coach programme and project managers. 
  • Build enterprise project management capability.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, or a related field required; MBA/Master’s degree and PMP, PRINCE2, PgMP/MSP (or equivalent) certification preferred.
  • 12–15 years of experience leading programmes, portfolios, or PMOs, with expertise in governance, methodology design, and portfolio management.
  • Proven experience driving strategic transformation initiatives, partnerships, and M&A integration.
  • Strong background within FMCG, Retail, QSR, or franchise businesses, with the ability to analyze market trends and support business growth.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including financial analysis, ROI modeling, scenario planning, and executive-level decision support.
  • Demonstrated ability to create structure, optimize resources, deliver strategic planning, and provide effective executive reporting across complex portfolios.
