Production Shift Manager - Chemical Manufacturing

Details of the Job & Candidate Requirements

An established chemical manufacturing company based in Prospecton is looking for an experienced Production Shift Manager to oversee shift operations, support the production team and ensure that safety, quality and production targets are consistently achieved.

 

REQUIREMENTS

• Degree or Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.

• Minimum five years’ experience working on a chemical manufacturing site.

• Production or shift-management experience within a manufacturing environment.

• Practical knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Six Sigma and 5S principles.

• Experience with SHE compliance, incident investigations and root-cause analysis.

• Experience issuing and authorising Permits-to-Work will be advantageous.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and support Production Team Leaders and other plant personnel.

• Ensure that finished products are manufactured according to the production schedule.

• Identify and implement opportunities to improve production efficiency and product quality.

• Lead continuous-improvement initiatives in line with Lean Six Sigma and 5S principles.

• Maintain the highest standards of safety, health and environmental compliance across the site.

• Ensure that product non-conformances are reported immediately and assist with root-cause investigations.

• Conduct routine monitoring and audits to ensure that plant and equipment remain in safe and efficient working order.

• Work closely with the Engineering team to ensure that plant and equipment issues are addressed promptly.

• Audit all required daily and weekly production and safety checks.

• Investigate accidents and incidents relating to the shift and areas of responsibility.

• Prepare and authorise Permits-to-Work when required.

• Take accountability for the site during management’s absence.

• Participate in stocktakes and provide relevant operational input.
