About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and proactive Mine Safety Officer to join their team near Benoni . This role is paramount in ensuring the health and safety of all personnel on-site and maintaining compliance with stringent mining safety regulations. You will be responsible for conducting regular inspections, identifying potential hazards, developing safety protocols, and delivering crucial safety training. This position offers the chance to significantly impact the safety culture of a major mining operation, contributing to a secure working environment through vigilant oversight and proactive risk management.

Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety management systems in accordance with mine regulations. Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify unsafe conditions or practices. Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions. Deliver comprehensive safety induction and ongoing training programs for all employees and contractors. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, standards, and company policies related to mine safety. Maintain safety records, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training registers. Requirements National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety. Registered as a Safety Officer with a recognized professional body (e.g., SAIOSH). Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety role within the mining industry . In-depth knowledge of South African Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and relevant regulations. Experience in conducting hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation. Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
