Millwright

ADM Nutrition (Brits ) is seeking a qualified and experienced Millwright to join our dynamic team at our Brits plant. This role plays a vital part in ensuring plant availability, cost-effectiveness, safety compliance, and consistent product quality. As a Millwright, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment, reading, and interpreting technical diagrams and blueprints while performing general electrical and mechanical maintenance and ensuring plant safety and operational efficiency.

Main Responsibilities
  • Compile and update electrical & mechanical equipment registers to maintain safety compliance.
  • Ensure that machinery in the plant are maintained, correctly set and free of safety hazards.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical & mechanical control.
  • Carry out running repairs on plant equipment as required.
  • Conduct routine maintenance inspections and apply proactive preventative maintenance principles.
  • Carry out maintenance tasks to maximize plant availability and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Provide technical support to machine operators and production teams.
  • Maximize performance of all electrical & mechanical equipment to meet plant targets.
  • Apply knowledge of instrumentation and pneumatics where required.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and full capacity utilization of machinery by performing both planned and preventative maintenance to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Execute electrical and mechanical maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting to keep equipment in optimal working condition and ensure continuous, efficient performance.
  • Perform routine inspections, lubrication, and adjustments to prevent breakdowns and diagnose mechanical issues with motors, belts, bucket elevators ,screw conveyors , chain conveyors and other components.
  • Fault find electrical machinery to improve performance, safety, and operational efficiency, while troubleshooting and resolving issues with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as needed.
  • Overhaul spare or outdated machinery to ensure quick availability during breakdowns and reduce plant downtime.
  • Install, align, and assemble machinery and equipment, ensuring proper setup and functionality for production needs.
  • Follow a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure all equipment runs at optimal performance and adhere to best engineering practices and company procedures to minimize downtime.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maximize plant efficiency and recommend performance improvements to reduce downtime.
  • Comply with company health and safety rules and the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements, and provide detailed reports on machinery conditions.
  • Standby duties
  • Guides, trains and coordinates the functions of the artisan assistant.
  • Performs various types of welding and fitting repairs in the factory

Qualification and experience:
  • Matric (or equivalent).
  • N3 Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Millwright Trade Test certification.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Millwright in a similar role, preferably in manufacturing.
