About the Opportunity
A leading global engineering organisation within the mining and minerals processing sector is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team.
This opportunity is ideal for a Mechanical Engineer with approximately 3–5 years of post-graduate design experience who is passionate about developing innovative products and solving complex engineering challenges within heavy industrial environments.
Duties & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and equipment for mining and mineral processing applications.
- Produce detailed engineering drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
- Perform engineering calculations, design verification, and technical analysis.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, projects, and operations teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
- Support product improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance, reliability, and serviceability.
- Conduct root-cause investigations and implement engineering solutions to operational challenges.
- Participate in prototype development, testing, and product validation activities.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, quality requirements, and customer specifications.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and engineering change notices.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders throughout the design lifecycle.
Minimum Requirements
- BEng or BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years' post-graduate mechanical design experience.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, Siemens NX, or similar 3D CAD software.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly.
- Ability to interpret and create detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
