Across Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, our colleagues are shaping what Absa becomes in each market. ### What you'll be doing You will actively participate as a team member of the CIB Markets Sales function, becoming the preferred point of contact both externally and internally for the provision of Markets Sales derivatives products. You'll serve as the bridge between the interests of Corporate and Commercial clients and the marketplace for Markets products, strategies, and structured solutions. This involves exploring and developing business opportunities in the Markets Sales function specifically around Risk Management Products, while maintaining balanced interaction with the other two key areas of CIB Markets to drive forward the overall Markets business strategy. Your day-to-day will include: - Managing a portfolio of customers to offer Markets' Risk Management Products (RMPs) proposition and building understanding with clients, including internal customers - Product and Technology sales including Absa Access FX, Investment and Risk Management Products - Trading with customers directly as required - Developing close contacts with Commercial Relationship Managers and customers - Promoting the expansion and penetration of CIB Markets business into customer segments, including RBB and Corporate, and expanding the customer base - Meeting various delegated volume and profitability targets - Ensuring Absa Group Limited (AGL) policies and procedures and relevant credit limits are always adhered to - Identifying personal knowledge gaps and ensuring a self-training and development plan exists - Assisting the Head of Markets Sales in compiling an annual Markets Strategic business plan and ensuring regular monthly feedback on performance is available ### What we're looking for **Required Experience:** At least 2 years of banking experience, with 1 year specifically in a Global Markets environment. **Education:** A degree to honours' level; a postgraduate qualification is preferred. A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Commerce and Management Studies is required. **Certifications:** Basic level ACI Dealing Certificate. **Technical Knowledge & Skills:** - Effective trading ability with a good track record - Exposure in Global Markets Sales - Sound understanding of balance sheet and income statement analysis - Understanding of financial risk management strategies and tools - Good knowledge of Financial Markets products, services, strategies, and back-office operations - Good general knowledge of other bank products, particularly trade and structured trade finance, forfaiting, and merchant banking products - General knowledge of merchant banking products **Personal Attributes & Soft Skills:** - Strong business awareness - A quick thinker who isn't afraid to act decisively - Strong ability to manage relationships - Ability to work in a dealing room environment - Innovative with the ability to use own initiative and take decisions with authority and confidence - High ethical and moral code; always behaves professionally - Effective marketing, negotiation and influencing skills - First-class verbal and written communication skills **Additional Requirements Specific to the Role:** - A willingness and ability to proactively manage customer relationships through on-site visits, presentations, and social gatherings - Knowledge of other parts of CIB Markets - A good understanding of the workings of Corporate, Retail and Merchant Banking operations ### Risk & Control Focus You'll manage risk and control effectively by applying applicable risk frameworks and embedding a positive risk culture. This means understanding your role in the end-to-end processes, including applicable risks and controls, adhering to Absa's policies and procedures, demonstrating sound judgement and responsible risk management, reporting all risk events/incidents/issues using the defined process, and proactively looking for ways to improve the control environment. All mandatory training must be completed to deadline. ### What makes this role exceptional This role requires a high level of self-direction and a total commitment to sales and customer orientation. You'll frequently need to work outside normal working hours and assist in managing customer bank relationships across different lines.
