Introduction


An established legal team based in the Waterfront is seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented and proactive Legal Filing Clerk to join their busy team.
This is an entry-level opportunity suited to someone with at least 1 year of administrative experience, preferably gained within a busy, high-demand environment. Candidates with exposure to the legal industry will be particularly well suited to the role. This could also be an excellent opportunity for a law graduate who has not yet secured articles and would like to gain practical experience within a professional legal environment.

This role would suit someone looking to establish themselves within the legal industry and gain valuable practical experience in a fast-paced legal environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain a high volume of legal files and documentation.
  • Perform daily filing of legal documents, correspondence and case-related information.
  • Ensure documents are filed accurately, systematically and timeously.
  • Retrieve files and documents quickly when requested by lawyers or the Director.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the matters being handled by the team and understand where relevant documentation is located.
  • Print, photocopy, scan and distribute documents as required.
  • Prepare, organise and bind legal documents, bundles and files.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of physical and electronic filing systems.
  • Ensure files remain complete, organised and up to date.
  • Assist with general administrative duties within the legal team

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • 1 year of administrative experience

Advantageous 

  • Previous experience within a law firm or legal environment.
  • A law degree or legal qualification.
  • Previous exposure to legal files, matters, case documentation or legal terminology.
  • Experience providing administrative support to lawyers or senior professionals.
