About the Role
Our client is looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join their busy catering team in Bloemfontein . In this essential role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, assisting chefs with basic food preparation tasks, and ensuring all areas meet strict hygiene standards. This is a fantastic entry-level position for an individual eager to learn and contribute to a professional kitchen environment in the heart of the Free State capital, Bloemfontein .
Key Responsibilities Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen, including floors, surfaces, and equipment. Wash dishes, cutlery, pots, and pans, ensuring they are clean and stored appropriately. Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling vegetables, chopping ingredients, and portioning. Manage waste disposal and recycling, adhering to company policies and environmental standards. Receive and store deliveries, ensuring proper rotation and organization of stock. Support the kitchen team during busy service periods as directed by the Head Chef or Sous Chef. Requirements Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar cleaning or kitchen support role is advantageous but not essential. Ability to work efficiently and maintain high standards of cleanliness. Good understanding of food safety and hygiene principles. Physically fit and able to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to follow instructions. Team player with good communication skills.
