Key Account Manager – PE

Position Overview

We are looking for a driven and commercially focused Key Account Manager to manage and grow an existing customer base while actively developing new business opportunities across the Gqeberha and Garden Route regions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with existing customers, identifying opportunities to increase sales within current accounts, and proactively developing new business.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who is highly sales-driven, confident in developing relationships with decision-makers and enjoys opening new doors while maintaining long-term customer partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

1. Key Account Management

  • Manage and maintain strong relationships with an existing portfolio of customers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts.
  • Understand customer requirements and identify opportunities to increase sales.
  • Grow revenue and profitability within existing accounts.
  • Conduct regular customer visits and account reviews.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service and responsiveness.
  • Resolve customer queries and coordinate with internal departments where required.
  • Monitor customer activity, purchasing patterns and potential risks.
  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers.

2. New Business Development

  • Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities within the territory.
  • Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
  • Identify prospective customers and arrange meetings and presentations.
  • Generate new leads through research, networking, referrals, cold calling and regular territory visits.
  • Present products/services to prospective customers and demonstrate the value proposition.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and convert opportunities into new accounts.
  • Follow up consistently on leads, quotations and proposals.
  • Meet or exceed agreed sales and new-business targets.

Territory

The role will primarily cover:

Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), George and the wider Garden Route, including surrounding areas as required.

The position will require regular travel throughout the allocated territory to service existing customers and develop new business.

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
  • 2–5+ years' experience in Key Account Management, Business Development or Sales.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales and new-business targets.
  • Experience managing an existing customer portfolio.
  • Strong business-development and lead-generation skills.
  • Experience dealing with senior decision-makers and/or procurement stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the territory.
