Junior Network Administrator
About The Role
------------------------------------------------------------------------
A boutique investment house based in Johannesburg is looking for a motivated Junior Network Administrator with genuine, hands-on Windows Server and Active Directory experience to support its Windows-based network, servers and end users, working remotely day to day, with regular attendance at the Sandton head office, particularly to resolve hands-on issues in person.
This is a genuine opportunity to grow across networking, systems administration and cloud technologies within a small, hands-on IT function, with structured training and upskilling provided for the growth areas. Reliability and initiative are valued highly — this is not a role for a clock-watcher; it rewards someone who takes ownership and resolves issues proactively rather than waiting to be asked.
In This Role
• Administer the Windows Server environment and manage day-to-day Active Directory tasks - user/OU administration, Group Policy support and password resets
• Maintain DNS and DHCP records, and support LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi connectivity, VPN access and basic firewall troubleshooting
• Monitor daily backup jobs and assist with restore testing
• Work remotely day to day, with regular attendance required at the Sandton office to resolve hands-on issues in person
• Provide Level 1/2 IT support to end users as part of a small, hands-on in-house IT function
• This is a role for someone who takes ownership and resolves issues proactively, not a clock-watcher waiting to be told what to do
The Right Fit
• Genuine, current hands-on experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy - this is the role's core requirement, not something that can be trained from a standing start
• Approximately 2-3 years' experience in IT support, desktop support or network/infrastructure support
• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and general network troubleshooting
• A+, N+ or equivalent (a relevant IT diploma, certificate or degree is an advantage, not required)
• Own reliable transport and a valid driver's licence, required for regular travel to the Sandton office
• Proactive and reliable - takes ownership rather than waiting to be asked; this is not a role for a clock-watcher
• Comfortable and disciplined working remotely and independently
What is on Offer
R25 000 - R30 000 per month, total cost to company negotiable dependant on skills and working experience.
Structured training and upskilling provided
