Junior DevOps & Event Streaming Support Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced DevOps & Event Streaming Support Engineer to support and optimize a modern event-driven technology environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and reliability of streaming platforms, integrations, containerized applications, and supporting infrastructure.
This role requires a strong blend of platform engineering, DevOps, Linux administration, automation, and incident management expertise. You will collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to maintain critical systems and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Event Streaming & Integration

  • Support and administer enterprise event-streaming and messaging platforms.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines and integration workflows.
  • Ensure reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance of streaming environments.
  • Manage message queues, topics, consumer groups, and schema validation processes.

DevOps & Platform Engineering

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain containerized applications on Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms.
  • Automate operational tasks using scripting and CI/CD practices.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based environments.
  • Support application deployments and platform readiness activities.

Monitoring & Incident Management

  • Maintain monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
  • Respond to incidents, troubleshoot production issues, and restore services rapidly.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
  • Contribute to service reliability and operational excellence initiatives.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Work closely with development teams to identify and resolve platform-related issues.
  • Support API testing, service diagnostics, and integration troubleshooting.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and automation initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience supporting event-streaming, messaging, or integration platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and/or Red Hat OpenShift.
  • Solid Linux administration experience.
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting and automation.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting APIs, integrations, and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and incident management processes.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Infrastructure Support, or Event Streaming environments.
  • Relevant Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, or Cloud certifications will be advantageous.
  • Experience in 24/7 operational support environments is beneficial.
