IoT (Subject Matter Expert)

Purpose of the Job:

IT BSS plays a critical role in enabling the telco’s business support systems to effectively support IoT services. This role focuses on designing and integrating BSS components (Billing, CRM, product catalog, order management, partner management) with IoT platforms and services. The SME will work cross-functionally with IT, product, architecture, and business teams to define and deliver scalable, automated, and monetizable IoT services and offerings.

Main Responsibilities:

BSS Integration for IoT Services
  • Lead the end-to-end integration of IoT platforms with core BSS components such as billing systems (postpaid/prepaid), CRM, self-care, order fulfilment, and provisioning
  • Collaborate with architecture teams to define the logical and physical architecture for IoT services within the existing BSS ecosystem
  • Ensure seamless flow of IoT service data for rating, charging, invoicing, and partner revenue sharing
Product & Service Enablement
  • Work with product managers to define IoT offerings (connectivity plans, device bundles, platform subscriptions) in the product catalogue
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications that can be implemented in the BSS stack
IoT Monetization & Charging Models
  • Define and implement flexible charging models for IoT (e.g., per device, per MB, per event, subscription-based)
  • Enable real-time and offline charging integration with PCRF/OCS and billing systems
  • Support multi-tenant billing and partner settlement for enterprise and wholesale IoT use cases
Order Management & Fulfilment
  • Design IoT-specific order orchestration workflows including device provisioning, SIM lifecycle management, and platform onboarding
  • Align with OSS teams to ensure seamless service activation and network provisioning through automated workflows
System Architecture & API Enablement
  • Define APIs and integration patterns between IoT platforms and BSS (e.g., via TM Forum Open APIs, REST/SOAP)
  • Ensure interoperability and compliance with industry standards (e.g., TM Forum, GSMA
Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Support SIT/UAT phases of IoT solution deployment from a BSS perspective.
  • Ensure data accuracy, billing integrity, and system stability during go-live and in production
Documentation & Governance
  • Maintain detailed documentation on system interfaces, business logic, and IoT-related BSS configurations
Finance
  • Maintain detailed documentation on system interfaces, business logic, and IoT-related BSS configurations
People
  • Provide expertise and technical advice to contribute to the development and implementation of human capability (through mentoring and coaching) and accountability frameworks across functions in support of people management strategies achievement
Customer
  • Drive an integrated service excellence culture, which enables rewarding relationships and client feedback in promotion of exceptional service
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the technical liaison between IT, Product, Network, Enterprise Sales, and external vendors
  • Engage with enterprise clients to provide pre-sales technical support and solution assurance
Qualification
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of telecom business processes, BSS architecture, and service
