We are looking for an experienced Intermediate Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA) to join our team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, optimisation, and support of Oracle database environments, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability across business-critical systems.
This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently while collaborating with infrastructure, development, and application support teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle Database environments.
- Perform routine database administration, monitoring, tuning, and optimisation.
- Monitor database health, storage, and performance to ensure maximum uptime.
- Manage database backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures using RMAN.
- Perform database patching and version upgrades in line with change management processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, incidents, and outages.
- Implement and maintain database security, user access, roles, and privileges.
- Monitor database capacity and perform storage planning.
- Develop and maintain database maintenance scripts and automation where applicable.
- Support application deployments requiring database changes.
- Work closely with Development, Infrastructure, and DevOps teams during releases.
- Ensure database environments comply with security and governance standards.
- Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Participate in after-hours support or standby when required.
- Relevant Degree, Diploma, or National Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Oracle Database Administration certification will be advantageous.
- 3–5 years' experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
- Experience administering Oracle Database 12c, 19c or later.
- Experience working in medium to large enterprise environments.
- Experience with production support and high-availability database environments.
- Experience performing Oracle database migrations and upgrades.
- Exposure to Linux/Unix operating systems.
