HR Assistant at Takealot

Takealot is looking for an HR Assistant to join their team in Cape Town, Western Cape. This role supports the HR team and helps manage employee needs from hiring to leaving. What the job is: You will be the go-to person for HR tasks. You will help with hiring, onboarding new employees, managing leave and payroll questions, and handling employee issues. You will work closely with managers and staff to make sure everything runs smoothly. What you will do: - Give advice and support to managers on HR tasks like hiring, performance reviews, and employee issues. - Help find and hire new staff, including scheduling interviews and checking references. - Manage the onboarding process for new employees, making sure they are ready on their first day. - Handle employee questions about leave, pay, and benefits. - Support managers with disciplinary matters and keep records of these processes. - Track employee absences and manage cases. - Prepare HR reports and keep employee records up to date. - Help with payroll checks and submissions. - Organize employee engagement activities. - Work on special HR projects as needed. What you need: - A degree in HR or a related field. - 2 to 5 years of experience in HR, preferably in a generalist role. - Experience with HR databases and recruitment systems. - Knowledge of South African labour laws. - Good project management and Excel skills. - Ability to handle sensitive information with care. - Strong communication and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. - A proactive and positive attitude.
