Group Tax and Financial Accountant

Introduction

The successful candidate will be responsible for tax accounting and compliance, month-end accounting and reporting processes, and will be involved with interim/year-end closing reporting, year-end audit and other tax/financial related projects which could change from time to time.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

Taxation (±50%)

  • Transfer Pricing: Formulating, reviewing and maintaining Group transfer pricing documentation and local files to ensure compliance with cross-border regulations and OECD guidelines
  • Reviewing intercompany transactions for compliance with transfer pricing regulations
  • Preparing and overseeing corporate income and provisional tax, across local and foreign subsidiaries, ensuring full compliance with SARS and global revenue authorities
  • Assessing, documenting and continuously improving Group companies’ tax processes and controls
  • Preparing and submitting tax returns
  • Preparing and reviewing tax calculations
  • Managing SARS audit verifications and requests
  • Liaising with local finance teams and external tax advisors

 

Financial reporting (±50%)

  • Reviewing subsidiaries’ management accounts
  • Preparing Group consolidated management accounts
  • Managing the year-end external audit requirements/deliverables
  • Ensuring that financial transactions in the Group are recorded in compliance with IFRS
  • Assisting Group companies with technical accounting transactions and year-end reporting packs
  • Reviewing inter-Group transactions and loan accounts
  • Overseeing the reporting by Group companies (local and foreign) and performing Group consolidations
  • Preparing Group financial reporting packs for submission to a listed company
  • Preparing Group companies’ annual financial statements
  • Compiling management information
  • Drafting reports for the Finance and risk committee and Board of Directors
  • Compiling Group consolidated cash flow forecast
  • Assistance/involvement with mergers and acquisitions
  • Assisting CFO and CEO with presentations to stakeholders

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • CA(SA) qualification
  • 3 years post article experience
  • Maintain an in depth, up to date, knowledge of taxation
  • Specialist knowledge and the ability to deal with complex tax issues
  • AFS (full IFRS) experience
  • Group accounting / consolidation experience
  • Management accounting experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Problem solving skills / can work independently
