About the Role
Our client is looking for a proficient Generator Maintenance Technician to serve the Randburg area. This role involves the installation, routine servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel and petrol generators. You will ensure that backup power systems are reliable and ready when needed, providing essential services to a range of clients. This position requires a blend of hands-on mechanical and electrical skills, with some hybrid administrative tasks involving reporting and scheduling. You will play a key role in maintaining critical power infrastructure for businesses and residences.
Key Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on generators, including oil changes, filter replacements, and battery checks. Diagnose and troubleshoot engine, electrical, and control system issues on various generator models. Perform repairs and component replacements as needed, ensuring generators are operating at optimal capacity. Conduct load testing to verify generator performance and identify potential problems. Install new generator sets and associated equipment according to specifications. Maintain accurate service records, inventory of parts, and client service reports. Requirements Proven experience as a Generator Maintenance Technician or in a related field (e.g., diesel mechanic, electrical technician). Strong understanding of diesel and petrol engines, electrical systems, and generator controls. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for generators. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and electrical schematics. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
