Job Title: Furnace Bricklayer / Mason

Location: Bellville Plant

Role description:

Reporting to the Chargehand: Furnace Maintenance, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of the glass furnace. The successful incumbent will function as the custodian by, preserving the conditions of the glass furnaces by providing constant maintenance when required to maintain the agreed standards. Assist with efficient and economical method of repairing and building furnaces.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensures that the furnaces are properly maintained, inspected, and kept in good working order.
  • Plans, coordinate, and carry out daily maintenance tasks, including hot repairs and housekeeping.
  • Liaise with melting management regarding all furnace maintenance activities and requirements.
  • Completes and manage administrative duties related to his/her work.
  • Performs, record, and update weekly, biweekly, and monthly check sheets (SAP PM).
  • Assists the HQ Furnace Maintenance Engineer teams during rebuilds and shutdowns.
  • Executes any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager (e.g., batch plant, cullet operations, compressors, etc.).
  • Controls, monitor, and reconcile all refractory stock levels.
  • Maintains, promote, and uphold good safety standards at all times.

Required skills / qualifications:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Bricklaying Trade Certificate-Mason/Bricklayer
Experience:
  • Computer literacy
  • Must have hot repairs and bricklaying experience
