Technical Assessment Questions
As part of the interview, applicants must complete both technical questions before the interview is finished. Your responses will be considered when evaluating your fit for the role.
Question 1: Code Review and Debugging. Review this Python function and identify potential issues or improvements. Explain why each suggestion is necessary: calculate_average(numbers) sets total to zero, adds each number to total, divides total by len(numbers), and returns the result. Address at least two issues or improvements in your response.
Question 2: Annotating Code for AI Training. Add clear inline comments explaining each line of this JavaScript function: function isPalindrome(str) { str = str.toLowerCase().replace(/[^a-z0-9]/g, ''); let reversedStr = str.split('').reverse().join(''); return str === reversedStr; }. Highlight assumptions and edge cases the function may need to handle.
- Explain at least two issues or improvements in the averaging function
- Provide reasoning for every code review suggestion
- Add concise comments to each line of the palindrome function
