About the Role Our client, a distinguished proprietary trading firm operating within the financial markets , is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Financial Markets Trader to join their team in Soweto, Gauteng . This role demands exceptional market insight, disciplined execution, and a robust understanding of trading strategies across various asset classes. The trader will be responsible for identifying profitable trading opportunities, managing risk effectively, and contributing to the firm's overall trading performance. The successful candidate will operate from our Soweto office, engaging directly with market data and trading desks. Key Responsibilities Execute trades across multiple asset classes (e.g., equities, forex, commodities, derivatives) based on established trading strategies. Identify and capitalize on short-term and long-term trading opportunities. Monitor market news, economic data releases, and geopolitical events that may impact trading positions. Implement and refine trading strategies to optimize profitability and manage risk. Conduct thorough analysis of market trends, price movements, and technical indicators. Manage trading positions and P&L, ensuring adherence to risk limits. Collaborate with risk management and research teams to enhance trading strategies. Maintain accurate trading records and generate performance reports. Stay current with market developments and trading technologies. Contribute to the firm's intellectual capital by sharing market insights and trading ideas. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in active trading, either proprietary or institutional. Demonstrated track record of successful trading performance and risk management. In-depth knowledge of financial markets, instruments, and trading mechanisms. Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex market data. Proficiency in trading platforms and analytical tools. Excellent decision-making skills, especially under pressure. Strong understanding of risk management principles and techniques.
