What Makes This Role Different?
This is not a traditional Financial Manager or Financial Controller position.
The successful candidate will operate as a senior commercial finance partner to the executive team, with exposure across international group finance, treasury, tax, M&A, corporate structuring, asset finance, investments, commercial agreements and high-net-worth advisory matters.
The role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to have a direct influence on profitability, financial strategy, risk management, international operations and long-term group value creation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Role Purpose
Will provide hands-on financial leadership and strategic oversight across a complex, multi-entity and international group structure.
This is a high-impact, commercially focused finance role requiring more than traditional financial reporting. The successful candidate will take ownership of treasury, group consolidation, international tax, transfer pricing, profitability, corporate structures, M&A activity, asset finance, commercial agreements and financial governance.
The role will work closely with the executive team and senior stakeholders and will be expected to translate complex financial information into clear commercial recommendations that support growth, risk management and long-term value creation.
The successful candidate must be a commercially minded CA who has moved beyond traditional audit and accounting into strategic and operational finance leadership.
Group Finance & Financial Management
- Provide financial leadership across multiple group entities and jurisdictions.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and management accounts.
- Lead the preparation, review and consolidation of group financial statements and annual financial statements.
- Develop and oversee budgets, forecasts, projections, financial models and management reporting.
- Monitor group profitability, margins, cost structures and financial performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, cost control and financial returns.
- Provide accurate and commercially relevant financial insight to the executive and leadership teams.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Oversee group treasury activities, liquidity and cash-flow management.
- Monitor daily cash positions, investments and funding requirements.
- Manage inter-company funding arrangements, loans and capital movements.
- Optimise the use of group cash and investment resources.
- Provide oversight of investment activities and liquidity risk.
- Support funding decisions and financial structuring across the group.
International Tax, Compliance & Structuring
- Provide strategic oversight of group and international tax matters.
- Manage and advise on corporate tax, VAT, provisional tax and other statutory tax requirements.
- Ensure compliance with relevant South African and international tax legislation.
- Provide input into international tax structuring and cross-border transactions.
- Oversee transfer pricing policies, inter-company charges and shared-service arrangements.
- Advise on the tax implications of capital receipts, investments, restructures and corporate transactions.
- Liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, regulators and other professional advisors where required.
- Identify opportunities for legitimate tax optimisation while maintaining strong governance and compliance.
M&A, Corporate Structures & Commercial Finance
- Support mergers, acquisitions, investments and other corporate transactions.
- Evaluate potential acquisitions, investment opportunities and new business proposals.
- Develop and review financial models, valuations and commercial business cases.
- Provide financial input into group restructuring and optimisation initiatives.
- Oversee subsidiary funding arrangements, inter-company loans and corporate structures.
- Monitor goodwill, valuations and other balance-sheet considerations.
- Assess the financial and commercial implications of strategic transactions.
Commercial & Contract Governance
- Review and provide financial input into significant commercial and legal agreements.
- Assess the financial implications and risks associated with Master Services Agreements, shareholder agreements, tri-party agreements and inter-company arrangements.
- Ensure appropriate commercial, financial and governance controls are incorporated into agreements.
- Work closely with executive, legal and operational stakeholders on commercial matters.
Asset Finance & Investment Structures
- Provide oversight of asset finance activities and related financial structures.
- Evaluate funding and financing alternatives for assets and strategic investments.
- Support the development and management of alternative investment structures.
- Monitor investment performance, returns and associated risks.
- Provide financial insight into captive, investment and other structured-finance arrangements.
Executive & Board-Level Reporting
- Prepare and present financial analysis, recommendations and strategic insights to C-Suite executives.
- Attend and actively contribute to Board, Audit & Risk, Corporate Governance and Investment Committee meetings.
- Present complex financial and commercial matters clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Provide recommendations that support informed strategic and investment decisions.
- Act as a trusted financial advisor to the executive leadership team.
High-Net-Worth & Advisory Support
- Coordinate financial administration and advisory support relating to key executives and high-net-worth individuals.
- Oversee coordination of personal tax matters, trust administration and related financial information.
- Liaise with wealth managers, tax advisors, trustees and other professional advisors.
- Provide a high level of confidentiality, discretion and professionalism when dealing with sensitive financial matters.
Governance, Risk & Stakeholder Management
- Ensure robust financial governance and internal controls across the group.
- Identify financial, tax, treasury and commercial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Maintain strong relationships with auditors, regulators, custodians, sponsors, management companies and professional advisors.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and internal governance requirements.
- Support insurance, risk-management and group-structure optimisation initiatives.
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- CA(SA) or equivalent internationally recognised Chartered Accountant qualification – essential.
- Minimum 8 years of post-qualification work experience in a senior finance environment.
- Strong experience within a multi-entity group finance environment.
- Experience in banking, payments, fintech, financial services or a similarly regulated environment.
- Strong commercial finance experience rather than a predominantly audit-focused background.

- Experience dealing with international entities and cross-border financial matters, particularly Mauritius, is advantageous.
- Experience within a consulting, advisory or professional services environment will be advantageous.
- Exposure to high-net-worth individual, trust or wealth-management administration will be advantageous.
Package & Remuneration
Remuneration: R70,000 – R110,000 CTC per month, depending on qualifications and experience
