Duties & Responsibilities

Are you an Accountant who enjoys understanding how a business operates—not just what the numbers say? This opportunity could be exactly what you're looking for.
A respected organisation within the manufacturing and construction industry is seeking a commercially focused Accountant to join its Johannesburg South team. This is a role for someone who wants to work alongside operations, influence business decisions, and play a key part in improving profitability across a busy, project-driven environment.
 
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you'll take ownership of the full finance function for a busy operational site, ensuring accurate financial reporting while partnering with site management to optimise financial performance. This is a varied role that combines commercial finance, operational support and day-to-day administrative responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of the business rather than focusing solely on reporting.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
  • Managing budgeting, forecasting and cost control processes
  • Monitoring site expenditure and analysing operational performance
  • Performing detailed variance analysis and providing commercial insights
  • Managing inventory, stock controls and reconciliations
  • Managing general finance administration and ensuring accurate record keeping
  • Providing day-to-day administrative support to the finance and operational teams
 
Job Experience and Skills Required:
BCom Degree (Accounting or equivalent)
Completed SAICA or SAIPA Articles
Minimum of 5 years' post-articles accounting experience
Previous experience within manufacturing, construction, engineering, mining or another operational environment will be highly advantageous
