Purpose of the Position:

  • To support the Canal+ Group and Africa Finance teams
  • To support financial consolidation and accounting across 20+ countries, 8+ clusters and 70+ MCG entities in Africa
  • To support accurate, complete, and timely reporting of financial figures
  • To work closely with the Canal+ Africa Consolidation team responsible for the historic Canal+ International perimeter
  • To work closely with the Canal+ Africa FP&A & Reporting team, as well as tax and treasury teams

Key Objectives

Tasks

Financial Consolidation

  • Work with Canal+ Africa MCG subsidiary teams
  • Prepare consolidation submissions monthly, semi-annually and for RF1, RF2 and budgets
  • Review reporting packages and validate submissions
  • Validate group trial balance
  • Monitor reporting deadlines
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and investigate and resolve differences
  • Process accounting entries and consolidation journals

Reporting, Accounting, Tax & Audit

  • Support IFRS reporting adjustments
  • Prepare disclosure schedules
  • Ensure that the accounting records correctly reflect the financial results
  • Prepare for and support internal and statutory audit processes
  • Prepare audit schedules and maintain reporting evidence and supporting documentation

Systems, Process, Controls & Data Integrity

  • Support system administration (HFM, BFC etc.)
  • Maintain reporting hierarchies
  • Assist with master data or metadata management in system
  • Update and maintain accounts and mappings

Qualifications

  • CA(SA), DEC or equivalent preferable
  • Relevant postgraduate finance qualification advantageous (e.g. CIMA, ACCA)

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years post articles relevant experience in a similar role
  • Sound base of experience with IFRS, finance systems and taxation rules
