Experienced Chefs and Bakers

Introduction

We are seeking experienced Chefs and Bakers to join our growing restaurant and bakery team at our new Vereeniging store. 

The successful candidates must possess a vibrant personality, strong cooking and/or baking skills and a passion for the food industry within the bakery environment. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and delivering to a consistently high standard of quality and presentation.

The opportunity will be ideal for a Candidate who is seeking growth within the hospitality field who has a culinary and/or baking background.

Duties & Responsibilities

Our Chefs are:

  • Preparing and cooking breakfast and lunch menu items

  • Working efficiently in both hot and cold kitchen sections
  • Ensuring compliance with hygiene standards and food safety regulations
  • Following recipes to maintain consistency and quality
  • Maintaining hygiene and presentation standards
  • Upholding company standards in a busy kitchen environment

 

Our Bakers are:

  • Preparing a wide variety of baked goods from scratch

  • Working efficiently across bakery sections
  • Ensuring compliance with hygiene standards and food safety regulations
  • Following recipes to maintain consistency and quality
  • Maintaining hygiene and presentation standards
  • Upholding company standards in a busy kitchen environment

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

  • SA Citizen - with a valid ID document
  • Minimum experience requirements:
    • 3 + years’ experience in a bakery or restaurant kitchen.
  • Experience with stock control and stock count.
  • Able to work flexible hours, weekends, and public holidays.

 

Qualifications:

  • Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
  • Certificate in Culinary, Confectionary or Baking would be advantageous.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Clean Criminal and credit record
  • Contactable references
  • Experience working in a Halaal food environment would be an advantage
  • Strong communication skills in English and Afrikaans
