IWS Online School is seeking an experienced English & Humanities Teacher to join our international academic team for the 2026/27 academic year.
We are specifically looking for a strong English and Humanities teacher with several years of experience in an international school environment, who can teach English and History across Secondary through to A Level. The ability to support additional Humanities subjects would be an advantage.
The successful candidate should be confident teaching English and History as academic school subjects, with the ability to support additional Humanities subjects where relevant.
The role may include teaching both IWS students and students within our partner schools.
The Role
You will:
- Teach English across Secondary through to A Level according to timetable requirements.
- Teach History across Secondary through to A Level, and support other Humanities subjects where relevant.
- Deliver engaging, well-structured lessons aligned with the curriculum and students' learning needs.
- Develop students' reading, writing, comprehension, analysis, critical thinking and subject knowledge.
- Plan structured and engaging online lessons.
- Assess student work and provide clear feedback.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to academic reporting.
- Collaborate with the wider IWS academic team.
- Support partner-school teaching where required.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should:
- Demonstrate exceptional written and spoken English, with professional-level fluency and accuracy appropriate for teaching English as an academic subject.
- Be a genuine English and Humanities subject specialist, with History teaching capability.
- Have several years of experience teaching English and/or Humanities in an international school environment.
- Have strong Secondary teaching experience in English and History, with the confidence to teach through to A Level.
- Have strong subject knowledge across English and History/Humanities; A Level teaching experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Be confident teaching English and History as academic school subjects across Secondary level.
- Be able to work independently without requiring significant subject-development support.
- Have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Be confident teaching online and using digital learning platforms.
- Be organised, dependable and committed to high academic standards.
Please note: Experience teaching conversational English, ESL or EAL alone does not meet the requirements of this vacancy. Applicants should have experience teaching English as an academic school subject and must also be able to teach History.
Desirable
Experience teaching English and History across Secondary level.
A Level English and/or History teaching experience would be an advantage but is not essential.
Experience supporting students across different ages, abilities and curriculum stages.
Ability to support additional Humanities subjects, and experience teaching students from different countries and educational backgrounds.
Online or blended learning experience.
Start Date: September 2026. The new term begins on 14 September 2026.
