Role Description The Duty Station Manager is responsible for the daily operations of Air France-KLM at Cape Town International Airport, Western Cape including coordinating customer service, managing team leadership, and providing training to employees.

The Duty Station

Manager will oversee all aspects of the Cape Town operation and will report to the Deputy Station Manager and Station Manager. This role has direct responsibility for the safe & secure turnaround of the aircraft while on duty, providing passengers with the best customer service possible for all operations encompassing all departments linked to the start or finish of their journey.

Manager is also part of the Station Management and maybe required to deputize for other Managers in their absence. This role involves working shifts in a very dynamic and challenging airport environment which requires high stress tolerance and very good organizational skills regarding aviation safety, security, quality control, passenger handling, ramp handling, reservations and sales, baggage handling and stakeholder engagements. He/she is responsible for the safety, security, service delivery and aircraft handling process at his/her station for Air France and/or KLM flights and, where applicable third parties during his/her shift. The job incumbent must strictly keep track of the quality levels and the targets agreed upon. Will coordinate activities on his/her station towards the Station Manager, Deputy Station Manager, Regional Station Manager, Country Manager and others, and vice versa. Will replace, by delegation, the Station Manager in case of his/her unavailability.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, or related field an advantage

Strong knowledge of all airport operations in the dynamic functions of Passenger handling services,

Ramp Handling services, Catering, Ticketing and Reservations, Security, Quality and Baggage is essential.

Preferably more than 5 years’ experience of Airport Regulations and activities.

Team Management experience

Stakeholder engagement experience in an airport environment

Ability to speak French and Dutch is an advantage

Driver's License (Required for your AVOP airside driving Application)

Physically fit (Requirement of Airport authority for permits to be granted undergoing medical)

Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal

Team Leadership and Training skills

Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Responsibilities:

For the sake of continuous improvement of flight safety, customer satisfaction, ground handling punctuality, environment, the Duty Station Manager is responsible to contribute to the Safety Management System implementation as defined by Air France KLM. Steers and manages all handling activities (in case of self- handling) or coordinates with the agent (in case of outsourcing) to ensure a timely, safe and efficient flight handling process.

Is responsible for all services related to all passenger handling activities including catering according to the Air France-KLM standards of safety, quality and customer satisfaction. Performs all supporting activities to ensure an efficient handling of Air France and KLM flights and, where applicable, for third parties. Performs administrative activities that support the actual handling of flights for Air France and KLM and, where applicable, third parties.

The Duty Station Manager is responsible:

In terms of flight safety and in line with safety management systems, to promote implement and maintain the safety awareness programs at the station and with suppliers. To ensure proper compilation and storage of Flight Files according to local and company regulations.

Controls and monitors Handling Agent’s activity and results both “above and below the wing”. Coordinate various aspects of passenger and aircraft handling with the Agent. Coaching and mentoring of the Handling Agent. Ensures that aircraft handling procedures are carried out as laid down in the applicable company manuals.

Coordinates with Airport Authorities, Technical Department, Catering, Cargo, etc. Takes care of the Flight Plan and/or provision of the Flight Plan to the crew & briefing (when applicable). Arranges various crew issues like transport, calling time of crew and other crew related matters. Coordinates slot requests and over- flight permission, where applicable.

In case of third-party handling, coordinates activities with airline representatives. Ensures that decisions are made within established company standards. Takes care of / is responsible for all service recovery and delay recovery activities in case of flight irregularities, in coordination with the Station Manager. Ensure the Ticketing, Reservations and sales revenue and activities for the station is monitored timeously to ensure accurate and correct reporting.

Ensures minimum over-supply with respect to catering orders needed for a flight. Implements facilities (handling, communication, signage…) for the clients in case of irregularities. Implements delay recovery actions, in cooperation with the Station manager. Transmits the information related to the irregularity to the departments and stations concerned. Reports to superiors on a daily basis about flights.

Takes care of regular flow of information on activities to superior, oversees various compensation payments to passengers on request/behalf of the Station Manager. Assists the Station Manager in administrative tasks like budgeting, reporting, invoice control. Controls and fills the Malfunction- and Irregularity Reports. Maximizes excess baggage, upgrading & ticket revenues.

Is responsible for one or more designated portfolios to ensure the effective management of station activities and duties in line with local, EU, Regional and aeronautical standards.
