Driver: Ultra Heavy Motor Vehicle

Job Context

DP World is seeking a safety-conscious, customer-focused, and experienced Driver: Ultra Heavy Motor Vehicle (Cat 14) to join our Transport Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of ultra-heavy motor vehicles with a gross combination mass exceeding 25,000 kg, ensuring the timely delivery of goods while complying with all company policies, road traffic regulations, and customer requirements.

This role requires a professional driver who is committed to operational excellence, safety, and delivering exceptional service standards.

KPAs (Key Performance Areas)

  • Safely operate and drive ultra-heavy motor vehicles (Cat 14) in accordance with road traffic regulations and company procedures.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Ensure the safe transportation and delivery of cargo to customer locations.
  • Comply with all safety, health, environmental, and operational standards.
  • Adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures, and service level agreements.
  • Maintain accurate trip records, delivery documentation, and vehicle logbooks.
  • Report vehicle defects, incidents, delays, and operational challenges promptly.
  • Ensure cargo is secured correctly and transported safely.
  • Meet delivery schedules and performance targets.
  • Provide excellent customer service during collections and deliveries.
  • Protect company assets and maintain vehicle cleanliness and roadworthiness.
  • Monitor fuel usage and support cost-effective driving practices.
  • Attend training and development initiatives as required.
  • Demonstrate and uphold company values at all times.
  • Provide regular feedback on operational activities to supervisors and management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within transport operations.
Qualifications Required
  • Grade 12 / Matric Certificate (NQF Level 4).
  • Valid Code EC Driver’s Licence.
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
  • Ability to operate ultra-heavy motor vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Clear understanding of road safety requirements and transport regulations.
Experience and Skills Required
  • Up to 3 years' experience as a Superlink Driver or in a similar ultra-heavy vehicle driving environment.
  • Sound knowledge of vehicle operation and driving techniques.
  • Good understanding of transport and logistics operations.
  • Ability to complete vehicle documentation and administrative requirements accurately.
  • Strong understanding of road safety practices and compliance standards.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Customer-focused with a strong commitment to service excellence.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
  • Reliable, responsible, and safety conscious.
  • Physically fit and able to work flexible hours when required.
