Cost & Financial Accountant

Company and Job Description: An established manufacturing organisation is seeking a Cost & Financial Accountant to join its finance team. This role is primarily focused on cost accounting , making it ideal for a finance professional who has strong manufacturing costing experience and understands how to track and analyse costs throughout the production process. You'll work closely with operational and finance teams to ensure accurate product costing, identify cost drivers, and provide meaningful financial information to support commercial decision-making. While costing is the primary focus, the role also offers exposure to broader financial accounting responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Finance Manage costing from raw materials through to finished products Analyse production costs, variances, and cost drivers Perform product and manufacturing cost calculations Monitor and analyse manufacturing margins and profitability Apply zero-based costing principles and methodologies Identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency and profitability Financial Accounting Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations Process journals and support month-end close Assist with management accounts and financial reporting Support budgeting and forecasting processes Provide financial analysis and reporting to management Operational & Commercial Support Partner with production and operational teams on costing matters Investigate cost variances and provide recommendations Maintain accurate costing information and financial records Support continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function Job Experience and Skills Required: Qualifications: BCom Accounting or Finance Currently studying towards CIMA - essential Experience: Minimum 4 years' relevant finance experience Strong manufacturing costing experience - essential Proven experience costing products from raw materials through to finished product Understanding or experience of zero-based costing Financial accounting experience, including reconciliations and month-end processes Skills & Competencies: Strong cost accounting knowledge Manufacturing costing expertise Zero-based costing Financial analysis Microsoft Excel SAP experience advantageous Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Comfortable working across both costing and financial accounting functions What's in it for you?
