CCTV Controller / Control Room Operator
Job Purpose To monitor, operate, and manage CCTV surveillance systems and other security equipment to ensure the safety and security of company premises, employees, visitors, assets, and operations. The CCTV Controller is responsible for identifying, reporting, and responding to security incidents and maintaining accurate records of all activities.
Responsibilities
- Monitor CCTV cameras and surveillance systems continuously.
- Identify and report suspicious activities, security breaches, and safety hazards.
- Track and observe incidents in real-time and communicate findings to security personnel.
- Ensure all CCTV cameras and recording systems are operational at all times.
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents.
- Document and report all incidents accurately and timeously.
- Maintain detailed control room logs and occurrence books.
- Compile incident reports, daily activity reports, and shift handover reports.
- Retrieve and preserve CCTV footage for investigations and legal purposes.
- Ensure confidentiality of all CCTV recordings and security information.
- Conduct routine checks on security and surveillance equipment.
- Report equipment faults and arrange repairs through the appropriate channels.
- Ensure backup systems and recording devices are functioning correctly.
- Ensure compliance with company security policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
- PSIRA registration (preferred).
- CCTV/Control Room Operations Certificate (advantageous).
Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years' experience in a CCTV monitoring or control room environment.
- Experience operating CCTV, alarm monitoring, and access control systems.
- Experience in incident management and report writing.
