OVERVIEW

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Bookkeeper. Our client is a newly established US-based company looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to build and manage their financial and administrative foundations from the ground up. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is comfortable taking initiative, working independently, and putting the right processes and systems in place from the start.

This position is fully remote and requires alignment with US Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and maintain the company's bookkeeping systems, chart of accounts, and financial processes from inception
  • Record and reconcile all financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank statements
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Manage invoicing, expense tracking, and vendor payments
  • Assist with payroll administration and ensure timely processing
  • Support general business administration tasks as required during the company's setup phase
  • Liaise with the client's internal stakeholders and provide regular financial updates and reporting
REQUIREMENTS
  • Matric (Grade 12) as a minimum; a National Diploma or BCom in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is advantageous
  • Membership with or studying toward SAIPA, ICB, or a comparable professional accounting body is preferred
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, with at least some exposure to a startup or greenfield environment
  • Proven proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Ability to work fully remotely and maintain consistent availability during US EST business hours
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Experience setting up accounting systems and financial processes for a new business
  • Exposure to US-based clients or cross-border financial administration
  • Experience providing both bookkeeping and general administrative support in a small business or
  • Familiarity with cloud-based tools and remote working environment
