Apprentice - Electrician/Millwright/Fitter and Turner/Tool and Die Maker

Role Description: The apprenticeship in the following discipline: Electrician |Millwright | Fitter and Turner | Tool and Die Maker will support maintenance and production teams on-site, full-time role based in Pietermaritzburg KZN. The apprentice will assist with routine inspections, maintenance, and repair of machinery, tools, and production equipment under the guidance of qualified tradespeople.
Day-to-day tasks include learning to interpret technical drawings, assembling and disassembling mechanical and electrical components, and supporting tool and die manufacturing and adjustments for die-casting operations. The role involves helping to diagnose basic faults, performing safe lock-out procedures, and maintaining accurate records of work completed. The apprentice will participate in safety briefings, on-the-job technical training, and skills development programs to progress towards trade qualification, on a contractual programme that will move from current grade into a first, second, third and fourth year - practical structured and trade -recognised.
What you need:
- Matric with passes in Mathematics and Physical Science
- English literacy (read, write and speak) ]
- N4 or higher trade theory in the relevant trade i.e., Mechanical, Electrical, Fitter & Turner, Millwright and Tool & Die Maker
- Foundational knowledge of electricity and basic electrical work relevant to industrial environments.
- Ability to assist with maintenance & repair and basic troubleshooting of production equipment and tools.
- Interest in or exposure to electrical engineering principles as applied to manufacturing or heavy machinery.
- Good mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, and ability to work safely with tools and machinery.
- Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a production and engineering team.
