Airport Operations Manager

About the Role

Our client, a key player in airport infrastructure management, is seeking an accomplished and strategic Airport Operations Manager to lead operations at a major hub in Pretoria, Gauteng, ZA . This senior position is responsible for the seamless and efficient day-to-day functioning of the airport, encompassing all aspects of ground operations, terminal management, and passenger services. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring operational excellence, maintaining stringent safety and security standards, and optimizing resource allocation. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a deep understanding of airport operations and aviation regulations. The goal is to enhance the passenger experience while ensuring the safety and efficiency of all aircraft movements and ground activities. This is a demanding but highly rewarding position within the vibrant aviation landscape of Pretoria .

Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage all airport operational activities, including airside and landside operations. Develop, implement, and monitor operational strategies to enhance efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. Ensure compliance with all relevant aviation regulations, security protocols, and environmental standards. Manage and coordinate with various airport stakeholders, including airlines, air traffic control, ground handlers, security agencies, and government authorities. Develop and manage the airport operations budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal resource utilization. Lead and motivate the airport operations team, fostering a culture of performance and continuous improvement. Oversee the management of airport infrastructure, including terminals, runways, and aprons, in coordination with maintenance teams. Respond effectively to operational disruptions, emergencies, and security incidents, implementing contingency plans. Monitor operational performance metrics and prepare regular reports for senior management. Champion innovation and implement new technologies to improve airport operations. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in airport operations management. Proven track record of successfully managing complex airport operations in a large-scale environment. Extensive knowledge of airport operations, airside/landside management, safety, security, and regulatory compliance. Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills. Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and decision-making capabilities. Proficiency in airport operational software and systems. Strong understanding of financial management and budgeting principles. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
