Transnet Engineering, a division of Transnet, is seeking two Accountants to join their Finance department. The successful candidates will be based in either Bloemfontein or Kilner Park and will report to the Executive Manager: Financial Accounting.

Equity Statement: Preference will be given to suitably qualified applicants who are members of the designated groups in line with the Employment Equity Plan and Targets of the Organisation/Operating Division.

Position Purpose

Transnet Engineering is seeking a young talented CA(SA) to support the Transnet Engineering financial accounting team with the reporting in terms of statutory and International Financial Reporting Standards on a monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual basis.

Position Outputs

  • Assists the Senior Manager: Financial Accounting and Executive Manager: Financial Accounting to ensure that the financial information in the general ledger is complete, accurate, timeous, and complies with applicable reporting frameworks, primarily the International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Assists in ensuring transactions are recorded and classified correctly in the relevant accounts, including ensuring that the correct GLs are utilized and that incorrectly posted transactions are timeously reclassified.
  • Interrogates the transactions and account balances in the GL to ensure they are valid, accurate, and are in accordance with IFRS.
  • Assists in the successful completion of the audit and ensuring on-time submission of audit information.
  • Assists in other finance tasks in the department as and when required without limiting the scope of work to what is documented above.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A qualified Chartered Accountant CA (SA) qualification with completed articles is required.
  • 3 years minimum experience in Financial Accounting.
  • Reporting experience is an added advantage.
